Dear CDWS members,
The CDWS Board has implemented new regulations for requesting a CDWS card for professionals, to ensure high standards of professionalism and service within the sector. Effective immediately, these regulations include the following:
- Suspending the Snorkeling guide/ Instructor Card request: For the next twelve months, the CDWS will not accept new card requests for snorkeling guides/ instructors, due to the current number of snorkeling guides exceeding the sector’s need.
- Renewal Requirement for Snorkeling Guides: All snorkel guides with a current CDWS card must successfully pass a practical and theoretical test before renewing their license. We will update you later with more information about the test.
- Requirement for new diving guides: All new diving guides -first time applicants- must successfully pass a practical and theoretical test to obtain the CDWS card. We will update you later with more information about the test.
- Minimum Education Requirement: All professionals must possess a minimum high school diploma -or equivalent-, this applies to all professionals, including underwater and surface photographers, except for the sailing professionals.
- Mandatory Exam: Underwater and surface photographers seeking CDWS certification must successfully pass the relevant CDWS examination, that matches their level of professional experience (diving guide/ instructor and snorkeling guide).
Regards,
The Chamber of Diving and Water Sports
