Diadema Sea Urchins in the Red Sea (Diadema Setosum) have been affected by a disease recently. Their role is crucial to coral reef ecosystems as they are algae grazers

Dive4Diadema – Citizen Science Underwater

A mass extinction is taking place right now. The citizen science project Dive4Diadema is searching for the last of the diadem sea urchins in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.

With your help, we want to investigate the disappearance of the sea urchin Diadema Setosum and document its presence or absence in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.

Join us and be part of the citizen science project Dive4Diadema!

If you would like to support research efforts on Diadema Sea Urchins populations, download the Dive 4 Diadema phone application to upload sightings spotted during dives. For more information, check out their website: https://dive4diadema.org/
