Dear CDWS members,
Kindly be informed of the attached letter, which outlines the decisions issued by Major General/ Amr Hanafi, the Governor of the Red Sea Governorate. These decisions state the following:
1- All fishing activities, whether by cruise or rented boats, are banned from May 15, 2023, to August 1, 2023.
2- Cruise boats are prohibited from sailing at night during this period. They may only operate during the day.
3- The trade of Red Sea fish in markets, restaurants, and shops is banned, in accordance with this decision and previous decisions by the Egyptian Lakes and Fish Resources Protection and Development Agency.
4- A committee will be formed to visit fish markets to ensure that they are not selling any fish from the Red Sea during the aforementioned period. The committee will include representatives from the National Park office of the Red Sea, the Directorate of Supply, the General Authority for Fish Resources Development, and the Environment police.
