Follow up on announcement #82 of 2021

12 April 2022

Dear CDWS members,
Referring to announcement #82, the seismic surveying activities in the Southern part of the Red Sea started on the 10th of April 2022 for a period of 100 days in search of oil and gas deposits.  For more information on the seismic survey, kindly refer to the attached document.

The surveying vessel will be operating around the following areas:
The Brothers, Daedalus, Quseir, Elphinstone, and Marsa Allam, as seen in the attached map between 4 PM and 6 AM at a distance of 40Km from dive sites.
The majority of the surveying will occur during the 4 PM to 6 AM timeframe in the case where the surveying happens between 6 AM to 4 PM or approaches a distance closer than 40 Km from dive sites, we shall notify you ahead of time. We ask our concerned members to not conduct any form of diving activities in the affected locations during the given timeframe and reroute your trips to different locations to avoid any injuries to the divers.

In the case divers are in the water during the surveying time, divers might experience a noise similar to a piling hammer and/or a low-frequency rumble. If any loud unusual noises that make divers uncomfortable are heard underwater, while the vessel is in close proximity to the concerned areas, please immediately notify the surveying ship M/V PXGEO2 call sign C6EY9 on the VHF channel: 16 or 72 or on their VSAT phone number: +1 95 46 726 901. We ask that you provide your exact location and timing of the occurrence when you contact the vessel. For any inquiries or complaints or incidents, kindly e-mail [email protected]
Regards,
The Chamber of Diving and Water Sports
